BiographyCharli Ertl is a San Antonio-based artist whose style blends figurative and surrealist elements. She began painting in 2021 for fun but decided to pursue it professionally in 2026. She is a self-taught artist, specializing in acrylics but sometimes uses watercolor. Her art tends to take an emotional/psychological approach, exploring the depths of the subconscious mind while occasionally highlighting societal concerns. She likes that her art can be perceived in many different ways depending on who is viewing her art and what they have experienced/been through in life. Her paintings usually take shape in her mind as a picture which she then articulates on the canvas. Sometimes this picture is clear, and other times she has to meditate with the canvas to develop a clearer image in her head.Charli’s desire as an artist is just for her work to be seen and connected with. She wants more people to feel comfortable with their own minds and not fear introspection or self-reflection. However, she also enjoys creating light-hearted art, as she believes having fun and finding joy is an equally important aspect of life.
